The Freedom Community Historical Society is excited to launch a new initiative to collect and preserve the rich tapestry of experiences that make up our beloved town of Freedom, Maine. We believe that every resident, past and present, holds a unique piece of our community's history, and we want to hear your story!

Whether you've lived here your whole life, are a recent transplant, or have ancestral roots deeply embedded in Freedom, your experiences are valuable to us. We are inviting you to share your memories, anecdotes, and reflections on what it means to live in Freedom.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Growing Up in Freedom: What was it like being a child or teenager in Freedom? Do you have fond memories of local events, school days, or favorite hangouts? Share your coming-of-age stories!

  • Ancestral Connections: Did your family settle in Freedom generations ago? Do you have stories about your ancestors' lives, their contributions to the community, or how they shaped the Freedom we know today? We'd love to learn about your family's legacy.

  • Current Freedom Experiences: What is your experience of Freedom like today? What do you love about living here? Are there particular places, events, or community traditions that resonate with you?
